It’s a plain simple truth - the services provided by aged care operators are constrained by inadequate government funding. Indeed reports commissioned for the government show the industry is significantly underfunded.

We provide the guests in our homes with accommodation, meals, cleaning, laundry, medical cares, social activities and events on a daily funding budget about what most people would pay for a provincial city motel or modest hotel bed ALONE

Until the political system and bureaucrats resolve the issues facing our sector and provide the solutions that allow us to meet the standards society expects of us, all aged care operators face major challenges.

We at TerraNova refuse to let this “reality” get in our way. We pride ourselves in having the passion, energy, commitment and scale to MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE.  We can and do change elderly lives for the better.  The following catch-cries reflect what we stand for:

It’s our business to care –  we deliver health care focused on the whole person,  being their mind, body and spirit underpinned by a clinical governance system that is second to none in New Zealand

Our Family of homes –  each home is part of our TerraNova group receiving the security of clinical and management support, expertise and oversight

Life is for Living – we passionately believe there is plenty of living still to be done even if you find yourself living in a residential home

Uniquely New Zealand – we are proud to live in this beautiful country and enjoy celebrating a New Zealand theme in our homes and leisure activities.

Our Philosophy In The Unlikely Event That Something Goes Wrong
We realise that when providing hundreds of rest home and hospital beds in a complex industry liked aged care, sometimes things don't always go according to plan.

Our policy in the rare and unanticipated event of not meeting you or your loved one's expectations is to promote an honest, open and problem-solving approach from our staff, to ensure the matter is dealt with in a timely and professional manner for the best possible outcome.

We care

Our Staff recognise the cultural, ethnic and spiritual diversity and uniqueness of all residents and the influence this can have on their lifestyle and care while in TerraNova facilities.

Resident Testimonial

"I was worried about moving, because I was leaving my own home. I was worried that it would be like all the other hospitals that I'd been in, where you just sit around and you do what the staff require. But here it was fair. They tried to get me to use the hoist to get into bed but I didn't want to and I never have. The staff worked out a way I didn't have to use the hoist. The head people here are very friendly. You can talk to them anytime. I like the outings, and the friends I have made here, and the kindness. I like the company I have here. My son advised me to come here, but for a while I said "no, no, no". He was worried about me being at home alone at night - anything could happen. Eventually I realised it was my decision to be made and I made it, and now I'm glad I did!"
