Our Executive Management team keeps our residents and business safe through setting high standards, and then leading our facilities to achieve them. 
 
 
Terry Bell - Executive Director (MBA, CA)

I want to introduce myself as the Chief Executive Officer of TerraNova Homes & Care.

Firstly, I am both honoured and excited to be leading an organization with a proven record of providing great care. Leadership of TerraNova allows me to continue my career-long passion for creating leading care outcomes in New Zealand.

We continue to build TerraNova's reputation of providing great care Supporting this, I'm also focussing on growing our tradition of delivering innovative care solutions (see, for example, our recently introduced PeoplePoint clinical system).

I have a simple set of goals for TerraNova, and I'd like to be transparent about what these are to our stakeholders like yourself. Our goals are:
  • Building on our already high care standards, especially in the provision of hospital-level care
  • Continuing to develop our consumer-focussed services through putting our residents at the centre of everything that we do
  • Positively contributing to the development of aged care standards and delivery in New Zealand.

Terry founded TerraNova with the goal of challenging standards in the Residential Care industry through a collection of New Zealand owned and operated homes.

Terry’s vision was to build a company which would be large enough to invest in the right places, but small enough to remain responsive and agile to changes in our resident’s care.

Equipped with an MBA, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant, Terry provides the strategic direction for the business – which is to be one of the best providers of care in New Zealand.

Dr. Michael Ashby - Non-Executive Director
Mike Ashby

Mike serves as Chairman and Independent Director for TerraNova Homes & Care, and challenges us to always think of better ways to serve our residents.

Mike is CEO of The Breakthrough Company, and for the last 10 years he has run development programmes for business owners.

Mike's extensive experience includes tenure as the Chief Operating Officer at Southern Cross, where he led a major financial turnaround. Prior to that he was a partner at Ernst & Young Consulting, leading the Strategy Transformation team in Wellington.

Mike's experience also includes extensive consulting in healthcare services, including with the Ministry of Health, placing him in an ideal position as an adviser to the TerraNova Board.

Shay Gurney - Clinical Quality and Risk Advisor

At TerraNova, we continued to strengthen our clinical governance and capability through the appointment of Shay Gurney as our  Clinical Quality and Risk Advisor.

Shay is a senior Registered Nurse who has extensive experience working in quality both for the secondary and residential aged care sectors. In her previous role as the Quality Assurance Coordinator for a large international aged care organisation (66 homes), Shay coordinated the internal and external auditing activities across each of the homes, developed quality and risk management tools to assist with monitoring and measuring service delivery and in preparation for audit. She assisted 32% of the care homes to achieve 4 years certification and a further >65% homes to attain 3 years. She contributed to the development of qualified nurses in the organisation by being both an educator and clinical supervisor, assisting to coordinate and deliver dedicated education days for each of the qualified nurses in the business and in turn reaching over 330 nurses each year.

Her skills and expertise in investigating significant incidents and complaints has earned her a trusted reputation with various stakeholders in the health sector including the Ministry of Health, various District Health Boards and the Health and Disability Commission.

The Clinical Quality and Risk Advisor role here at TerraNova is to work alongside our Clinical Coordinators and Facility Managers in each of our homes; to further develop and refine our clinical policies and procedures and provide clinical leadership and guidance as part of the organisations overarching clinical governance and quality framework.

With the addition of Shay to our clinical team, we are confident that our clinical care and quality framework will exceed national norms and standards.

Our Facility Managers are some of the best in the business, each going through a comprehensive selection process to secure the privilege of serving our residents.

Eileen boasts nearly 30 years of nursing experience, with many of those spent managing residential care facilities. Eileen has 12 years of experience in New Zealand, where she has managed a range of both small and large multi-site facilities. The depth of her experience perfectly positions her to uphold the high standards of care that Riverleigh is known for. Originally from the UK, she has immensely enjoyed her time and New Zealand, and considers it her home.

Ann’s widespread experience in healthcare is revealed in the excellent care provided to her residents. Previously, Ann has held a range of positions in the Residential Care industry, including National and Regional Manager roles, Operational Development, and as a Health Management Consultant. Ann’s specialized expertise in Aged Care means our residents can have total confidence the quality of care provided to them.
Nicky Davies - Manager, Brittany House

Nicky qualified as a registered Nurse, in the United Kingdom and has 13 years experience working within aged care, 9 of those in New Zealand.

She is passionate about providing excellent care, and believes that everybody should be treated with dignity and respect. Nicky's role involves ensuring that the reputation of the facility is maintained and built upon ensuring that our care facility is safe, effective and efficient to the needs of our residents.

Residents at Brittany can be assured that the team at Brittany will provide care unique to their individual needs.
