Corporate Social Responsibility

We are Proud to Play an Active Role in Our Communities

Together we make a difference
As a healthcare organisation, we understand the importance of looking after people. We also recognise that some organisations providing healthcare in our communities also need a helping hand when it comes to raising funds to provide those services.

A lot of our partners in the community provide services which are primarily funded through donations and fundraisers. They need our help, and we want to help raise funds and awareness for the great services on offer in our communities.

Our goal is to hold an annual fundraiser to support one or more partner organisations in the healthcare community.  This year we are proud to hold our first annual fundraiser in benefit of Hospice New Zealand. Find out more about our fundraiser below

Announcing the TerraNova Tongariro Hikoi.

What our first annual fundraiser and cultural event is about

Forty staff across TerraNova volunteered themselves to walk the treacherous Tongariro trail. It was for a very good cause, and our commitment to giving back, towards building stronger communities.

Our staff walked the 19.4 km of rugged terrain in a bid to raise essential funds for five Hospices situated around the North Island. The Hospice provides essential healthcare services in communities throughout New Zealand, and is a close partner to those providing healthcare services to the elderly.
The Event
The event took place between the 23rd and 25th of November. Our team of 40 spent two nights at the Otûkou marae, hosted by the Ngâti Tûwharetoa iwi. We crossed Tongariro, 19.4km trail with a guide who advise us on the cultural importance of the landscape.

Each member of our team was tasked to fundraise a minimum of $200 towards the Hospice to participate in the event. At the end we raised $10 000.

Cultural Experience
While fundraising for the Hospice is a great reason for us to hold the event, we are also used the opportunity for organisational development.

We had incorporated a strong focus on Maori culture into the event, as cultural diversity and empathy plays a large role in delivering appropriate services to our residents. We spent two nights at a marae and observed all customs and protocol while learning more about tangata whenua (the indigenous people of our land).

Cultural Diversity

From residents, families, and staff, residential care is a truly multi-cultural experience. Our trip had a strong focus on Maori culture and diversity to emphasize the importance of delivering culturally appropriate care.

Building Our Team

Staff ranging from caregivers to the board of directors came together as equals. Great care can only be delivered by a skilled team working together.

Promoting Wellness

We are in the business of caring, yet many people in healthcare don't take the time to look after themselves. We're doing our part to promote a healthy lifestyle among our staff,

Supporting Charity

We aim to raise $8,000 for our five local hospices in the North Island where our facilities are located.
However, we exceeded our goal and raised $10 000 for our five local Hospices in the North Island.

About the Charity

Hospices are charitable organisations providing care and support for people living with life limiting and terminal conditions. The goal of hospices are to support people with these conditions to live every moment in whatever way is important to them, their family, and whanau.

Hospices are free to use for those who need it, but requires continued fundraising the maximise their services. The national Hospice was established in 1986, and oversees 29 local Hospices serving 15,000+ New Zealanders every year.

All funds raised by the Hikoi will be evenly split between Hospices who are partnered with our branches across the North Island, these are: Visit the National Hospice HERE >>
